Chapter 3 Minor Characters

The only real Minor character I seem to see is Owl Eyes.  They do not give him a name besides Owl Eyes.  He acts very fake because he says  he is suprised that the books Gatsby has are real.  He also was drunk at the party and even got into a car accident.  I hope that Owl Eyes can learn to be a better person.

Symbols in Chapter 1

       I believe that in the first chapter of "The Great Gatsby" there is more symbols than what meets the eye.  At first I believed it was just an normal light and had no real meaning. But, when Gatsby started to stretch his arm out as if to try and touch the light I thought that it had to symbolize something greater.  Since Gatsby has a crush on Daisy the light may symbolize his hope that she loves him back.  Also that the light will lead his way in the darkness of the night.

The start of The Great Gatsby

My first reaction to The Great Gatsby is that it seems very interesting.  It looks like it provides a great view into the life style of people in the 1920's.  I think Nick is a very interesting character and is adjusting well to moving in to a new area.  He is used to a very laid back quiet Minnesota, and now is living in an up beat New York.  I believe Nick does not have a real direction in life and I hope he can find his way.
